Matters of the HeartFebruary 11, 2009 Now, when it comes to art, we find ourselves falling in love quite frequently. Thankfully, there's nothing wrong with that. And there are two opportunities this week to see some great art and fall in love with it yourself. The first is tonight! Yes, tonight at Local Colour, join other art lovers for some pre-Valentine cheer at the gallery's "Romancing the HeART." There will be chocolate and red wine, of course. But there will also be lots of new work by the talented artists that make up Local Colour - and all with a Valentine theme. You'll get to see Connie Fails' love dolls, pottery by Laura Raborn, and paintings by Patty Criner, Barbara Lasley, Boots Barnett Warrick, Pat Matthews, and many others. So make some time to drop by tonight before you head home. The second art opportunity is on Valentine's Day itself. We know you have plans. But we also think your plans need to include a stop by the new location of the Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative for the opening night of their Valentine's Community Art Show and Sale. There will be live music, food, libations, and lots of fun. Plus, you'll get to see more great local talent, including the works of Eric Freeman, Lisa Klaas, Teresa Smith-Mulkey and many others. There will be all kinds of art available - from paintings and pottery to jewelry and fashion - so you'll have no excuse to leave empty-handed. We hope you'll consider attending one or both of these openings in celebration of Valentine's Day. It's always exciting for us to see what can happen with you think and work with your heart.
